I agree with this to an extent. There are so many factors and influences which make it so that it is not always the woman's decision to bear a child. Factors of our society have to improve if we are to allow all woman the same freedom of choice when it comes to reproduction.

The problem isn't just slowing down the rate of birth, it's telling that to 7 billion people, they'd all have to agree, even and especially the religious pro-life fanatics, which, i'm not sure but I think it's safe to assume they outnumber us.

Then there's also the problem of the young taking care of the older people, like for instance a pension, which is kind of tax payed by the people still working. If there's less people working the elderly might get less or no pension, no healthcare, no food, no water...they would die because they can't afford to live anymore. That is a terrible way to die and that knowledge is also a burden to pay far their children aswell.

But I guess every act we do now to save the planet, will be drastic with some very heavy consequences, and again 7 billion people would have to agree on them. I mean look at Greece in the Eurocrisis right now, just try to convince the world to starve so their countries ends would be met to solve the crisis.

Interesting! His voice is iconic, of course, but I have never heard him speak of things like this. Is Attenborough a Humanist, by chance? It would be great to be able to count him among our number. :)
